Dr. Robert S. Ivker has been a family physician since 1972, after graduating from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a family practice residency at Mercy Medical Center in Denver and was certified by the American Board of Family Practice from 1975 to 1988. After starting his career as a solo practitioner, he founded Columbine Medical Center (CMC), a family medicine group practice that by 1986 had become the busiest family practice in the Denver metropolitan area. For the past 18 years since leaving CMC, Dr. Ivker has been practicing holistic medicine, with an emphasis on the treatment and prevention of chronic disease and the creation of optimal health.
From 1992 to 2000 he served on the Board of Trustees of the American Holistic Medical Association (AHMA) and was President from 1996 to 1999. Dr. Ivker is the past-president (2002-04) and a co-founder of the American Board of Holistic Medicine (ABHM) and co-creator of the first board certification examination in holistic medicine in December 2000. This certification is setting a new standard of quality health care in America. There are currently over 800 board-certified holistic physicians (MDs and DOs) in the U.S.
